- Anumandal Bhavan (Government Offices): Built Balia's first Anumandal Bhavan (Government Offices). Made it easy for the public to visit the government offices in one spot, and allowed for greater coordination and streamlined work between the various government departments
- Roads: Roads were in a terrible condition due to 15-20 years of negligence. Jamshaid got various roads and bridges constructed under the Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) – such as Mir Alipur to Madhu Sudanpur and the Awadh Tirhut Road. Similarly, in Deira area of Balia, there were absolutely no roads at all. Using PMGSY and MMGSY, he got all the required roads constructed in Deira – this was the first time that something like this had ever been done in Balia.
- Healthcare: Built a 75 bed hospital in Balia – the first proper hospital in Balia. Before this, people had to travel all the way to Begusarai for proper treatment and healthcare
- Police Station: Built the first police station in Dandori – there was no police station there, and the closest police station used to be in Sahebpur Kamal, which meant that police couldn’t monitor Dandori well, and that the people living in Dandori had to travel all the way to Sahebpur Kamal if they needed a police station
- Registration Office: Similarly there was no registration office in Balia – Jamshaid had one built there
- Vakalatkhana (Lawyer Library): In Balia court there was no Vakalatkhana for lawyers, severely inconveniencing all the lawyers as well as the people who were their clients – Jamshaid had one built and made operational there.
- Nagar Nigam Conversion: In the history of Bihar, for the first time, a cabinet meeting was held outside Patna, at Jamshaid Ashraf’s constituency, in village Barbighi. Begusarai, was converted from Nagar Palika to Nagar Nigam, which led to greater funds for development and higher level of recognition. Simultaneously Balia, Teghra, Bakhri and Bihat were given the status of Nagar Panchayat and Nagar Parishad, leading to better governance and more funds for development.

- Elected Chairman from 2006 to 2008, and unanimously re-elected from 2008-2010
- Initiated and finished the construction of a new State Haj Bhavan – one of the best Haj Bhavans in the country and now a landmark in Patna
- Streamlined the red tape and bureaucracy involved in Hajis going for Haj through State Haj Committee, and got officials and volunteers together to provide better service to Hajis
- Resolved severe issues being faced with Air India as it had a monopoly for Haj flights, by having a global tender issued for flights and getting competitive airlines with better services for the same price
- Proposed Gaya as the airport for direct flights to Saudi Arabia from Bihar, instead of Hajis having to go to Calcutta first, wait 10-12 hours in transit and then get a direct flight. Gaya is now used as the default airport in Bihar and provides direct flights to Hajis, making it much easier and giving them a lot of relief
- By initiating sending representative from the Bihar State Haj Committee along with the Central Haj Committee for selection of accommodation for Hajis in Mecca and Medina, significantly improved the level and quality of accommodation available to Bihari Hajis
- Due to all of these improvements, the number of Hajis going for Haj through the State Haj Committee shot up from 2,100, to 6,600, an increase of over 300%!

- Jamshaid Ashraf was the Minister of Registration, (State, Independent Charge) from 2008 to 2010
- In 2008-09, increased revenue from 695 crores to 771 crores. In 2009-10, grew revenue to Rs. 1,150 crores, a record jump of 49.15%
- Computerised registration systems and digitised records of 10 years prior to computerisation
- Prime Minister’s Award for “Excellence in Public Administration” was awarded to the department’s project “SCORE: e-Registration in Bihar” on Civil Services Day, 2009
- Introduced Franking machines in banks across Bihar
- Created posts of 2 archivists for record rooms, and one office superintendent for each district
- Introduced “May I help you” booths in each District Registration Office to disseminate information and help the people
- Amended Section 47A of the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 to curtail fraud and discourage fake property valuation
- For the purpose of women empowerment, provision has been made to issue Marriage Certificate under Special Marriage Act (SMA) to both husband and wife

- Building a Girls High School in his constituency – Balia
- Installed 4 Hand pumps in every village in his constituency to ensure everyone has access to fresh water – life’s basic and critical requirement
- Unfortunately, floods are an every year reality in Bihar, and lot of people are severely affected by these floods. Every year, Jamshaid donates at least 20 boats to various flood affected villages across Bihar. In addition to this, he also distributes free food to all the flood affected people of his constituency
- Distributes 500 blankets every year to the poor to help them with the severe winters
- Built a huge madarsa in Pakthaul, near Barauni, for the education of Muslim Children. Also built a madarsa in Gulbarga in Karnataka
- Computerised 13 madarsas, and plans underway to computerise 17 more
- Financially and practically helped in building of more than 10 mosques and 5 temples across Bihar
- Sponsored and organised mass community weddings for the poor, with over 200 couples getting married, irrespective of caste or religion
